During my internship at PXL University College, I worked as a UX/UI designer at MediAVentures. This position was offered to me at the request of my teacher, Nathalie Fuchs, whose husband worked at MediAVentures and was seeking a solution for their inadequate proof-of-concept UI design.
In a nutshell, MediAVentures creates educational venues and provides complete assistance for live transmission and professional production in the medical field. During the Covid-19 outbreak, these activities were no longer permitted to take place, thus MediAVentures created a new alternative for its clients:
a remote proctoring solution.
By installing multiple cameras in an operating room and transmitting the footage with minimal latency. Medical professionals can proctor a surgeon from anywhere in the world, eliminating the need to travel to proctor in person. This concept is scalable for other use-cases, for example: the footage can be used in an educational environment.
Below is a list of all the assets that were included in the scope, in a before and after version. The current website (still under development) can be found via this link (current state of the platform)
The VISIOR platform logo before alterations.
The new logo in light- and dark-mode variations.
I was unable to redesign a full set of web-pages that would cover the whole project, because of how brief my internship was. With the color scheme and logos, a straightforward style manual was produced for the foreseeable future.
The previous VISIOR platform landing page.
Instead of a second click to access the log-in form, the landing page now allows users to log in right away.
The before version of the dashboard where users can join a live surgery location and edit their account settings
Surgery is clearly not performed around-the-clock, so the updated dashboard's schedule for tuning in to a broadcast is really helpful. Based on MediAVentures' initial aspirations to develop it into an educational platform, this dashboard was a prototype draft.
According to the findings of usability testing I completed during my internship, the majority of participants found the platform pretty cumbersome to use. There is a lot of empty space present in comparison to all the features included and crucial buttons are not always clearly represented.
This new live streaming platform provides users and proctors with numerous tools for sharing critical information. While interacting with people and creating annotations on the screen with the convenient toolbar, users may switch between camera perspectives or create a composition of multiple camera angles.
